Spooky season is off to a good start at the box office, as Other Mommy pulled in $27.5 million despite its terrible 19% Rotten Tomatoes and D- Cinemascore. The Jessica Chastain starrer also made $17.69 million internationally, bringing its total box office to $45.19 million against an $18 million budget.
Verity followed in second place, falling a steep 64% from opening weekend but still managing $11.4 million domestic. It has made $53 million in North America and $113 million worldwide.
In third place was Resident Evil, which made $8.3 million in its fourth weekend. The film continues to perform extremely well, having made $138.5 million domestic and $300 million worldwide to date.
Fourth spot went to Heart of the Beast with $7.1 million in North America. So far, it has earned $49.6 million domestic and $131.3 million worldwide against an $82 million budget.
The Social Reckoning premiered in the fifth spot, pulling in only $5.5 million in its opening weekend domestic, and an additional $3.5 million overseas. This is less than what was forecast, and well below the $22 million opening weekend of The Social Network.
