Rosalia returned to the Saturday Night Live for her second performance on Saturday (October 10).
The 34-year-old entertainer served as the musical guest for her second time during this week’s episode, which was hosted by comedian and actor Shane Gillis.
For her second number, Rosalia performed in the rain as she sang “Magnolias,” the closing track from her most recent album, Lux.
In the chorus of the song, Rosalia repeats, “Tirame magnolias,” which translates to “Throw me magnolias” in English.
If you don’t know, Rosalia is singing about her own death in “Magnolias,” and turning the idea of death into something beautiful.
She has previously stated the song is an ode to Anandamayi Ma, an Indian saint, teacher and mystic.
“There was an amazing burial… There were so many flowers… like, it’s crazy. And apparently everybody felt so at peace… apparently everybody was outside… everybody felt so much peace and like joy,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “And so for me, I was like, wait — this is amazing to know that that happened. And I’m like, how would my burial be? Maybe it’s just about: please don’t be sad when I die. Just please have a party”
