Erling Haaland is no stranger to going viral, and that was true once again when he debuted his shaved head over the summer.
The 26-year-old Norwegian soccer star has become synonymous with his long hair, but in August, he cut it all off.
During a new cover feature with WSJ. magazine, Erling shared his thoughts on the days-long response to his new hairdo from the public.

In the magazine article, Erling‘s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, who was also a soccer star, didn’t like seeing “strikers with a man bun,” and it “pissed” him off when he was younger.
Then, when Erling became a striker, he decided he wanted to grow his own hair out, but his father told him he had to “perform,” which he did.
Though he’s had long hair for years, it only recently went viral, likely due to his competing in the World Cup this year.
“Literally everything of me went viral,” he said.

“Let’s just surprise everyone,” he told the mag after revealing his shaved look in August. “I expected it to go viral. But I didn’t think the whole world would be talking about my haircut for four or five days.”
However, before cutting all of his hair off, Erling teased cutting it and growing “it all out again.”
“We’ll see what the future brings,” he added.

A month before Erling debuted his shaved head, he was seen exiting a yacht with his girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, in Saint-Tropez.
