Ava Ganz, a contestant on the Netflix series Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, is calling out the show’s editors for making her look like a “little brat” while competing alongside her dad.
The new reality competition show brings 12 Golden Ticket winners, and their partners, inside a massive recreation of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, where they face games, tests and temptations designed to challenge them physically, mentally and morally as they make their way through the factory. Only one contestant will ultimately win what the show calls a “lifetime supply of money.” The prize is $3 million, which will be paid out over a span of 30 years.
Ava and her dad, Jeff, entered the competition as a team and she became an early target for the other contestants because of how competitive she seemed to be.
The father-daughter duo were both eliminated in episode 6 during the “WonkaVator” challenge.
In a video posted to TikTok after her elimination aired on Netflix, Ava tearfully opened up about watching the episodes and how disappointed she was by the edit she received. Despite lasting until the end of the “Whirl Power” competition, in which she competed against four men, she felt the show made her look weak.

A show I’m on called The Golden Ticket on Netflix just released yesterday. I’m so let down by my edit, and I’m trying to not take it seriously, but I do think it’s serious.
I can’t help but feel like there are some real girl haters in that editing room, and I’m honestly, like, shaking because I just watched my termination. And the worst part of it is that the title actually says, “Ava, influencer,” and there’s nothing wrong with influencing. It’s probably the coolest job in the world. But I’m a business owner, and I’m, like, so proud of my business.
I’ve been working with brands this holiday season, like Google and Meta. To be belittled down to someone who just relies on daddy for everything when that is so far from the truth, is so insane.
I founded my own creative production business, and I work my ass off in New York City, where I have my own apartment. Not only am I completely financially independent, but I also do everything on my own. I don’t have my parents, like, guarantor my apartment. No one moved me across the country. I did it myself.
That’s not because my parents neglect me. They love me so much, and I love my parents so much. They raised me to have the most amazing life and education, but the second I could legally work a job, I was.
I’m so, so let down, not just for myself. Like, I’m just let down as a girl. I just feel like girls in media have such a hard time being taken seriously.
I was so excited to see my edit, maybe inspire other younger girls with throwing up and staying on the spinning challenge, and beating out the three other guys who underestimated me. Even in my shining moment, the editing room made it seem like that was my first time ever demonstrating strength or independence.
“Oh my God, this little brat who’s dependent on daddy just had this breakthrough of showing maybe one day she could actually stand on her own.” To be so demeaned and belittled in a moment where I actually did something sick is so lame.
Even how they chopped up clips of me talking about how I love matcha and hot yoga and fashion and made it seem like it was just all that is me and there’s nothing else there. I have so much more depth than matcha, yoga, and fashion. But, yeah, I do love those things. And being a girl and loving being a girl and loving feminine things does not make any woman any less educated, serious, or ambitious.
They did the most to not even allow me a moment of substance, a moment of depth.
