-Sabrina The Teenage Witch has officially turned 30!
-The series had a very interesting start with Melissa Joan Hart starring in a tv movie on Showtime as the character Sabrina Sawyer, and Charlene Fernetz and Sherry Miller as Sabrina’s aunts Zelda and Hilda, respectively.
-The success would lead to ABC commissioning a tv series of the character with MJH as the only one reprising the role of Sabrina, now going by Sabrina Spellman and Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea replaced Fernetz and Miller as Zelda and Hilda Spellman.
-Sabrina aired on the iconic TGIF lineup for 4 seasons (the high school years) before moving to WB for the remaining 3 college seasons. Viacom Productions, which produced the show, wanted an increased fee (up from $1 million per episode); ABC offered $1.2 million per episode. The WB then picked up the show for $650,000 per episode, but committed to two seasons (ultimately three).
-The shows initial popularity (bringing in 17million viewers and #1 of the TGIF lineup) lead to an animated series that ran for 65 episodes.
