Halle Berry’s daughter has left home for college
The 60-year-old actress’ eldest child, 18-year-old Nahla Aubry – who she has with former partner Gabriel Aubry – recently moved to college and while the Crime 101 star felt “proud” seeing her daughter go off into the world on her own, she admitted it is still a daunting prospect.
She told People magazine: “[It was] a little scary.
“She’s the first to go and she’s my baby girl. I felt proud of her, but there’s a little fear. She’s in the world now all by herself.
“She went to another state, and I just hope that she makes the right decisions and that her dad and I hope we raised her up right and that she’ll make the most of her experience.”
But Halle’s son, 12-year-old Maceo – who she has with ex-husband Olivier Martinez – has taken the change in home life well and feels happy he “gets to sleep” in Nahla’s bed and “feels like an only child” now.
She said: “There are perks that come with that. They no longer have to compromise. We don’t have to agree on dinner anymore. He gets to decide these kinds of things for himself.”
However, Maceo misses his sister and home feels “off” for them both without her there, but ultimately the family is “all so supportive and so proud” of Nahla.
Meanwhile, after Zendaya stepped out at the recent Emmy Awards in a look that paid homage to Halle, the Monster’s Ball actress admitted she thinks the Euphoria star is a “sweetheart” and she hopes they can work together one day.
She said: “I do speak to her and I have to say she is the sweetest and my little sweetheart and I would love to find something to do with her someday.
“I mean, hopefully we will, but I’m just a supporter of her.
“I love everything she’s doing. I think she is changing the game in so many ways for her generation. And I couldn’t be more proud of someone or to know someone honoured that she would pay homage to me that way. That was really sweet.”
