Eman Esfandi says he’s not playing Paul in ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’

Eman Esfandi plays MJ’s new boyfriend in the current ‘Brand New Day’ movie and there were rumors/reports (I.e. apparently some have claimed that subtitles in other countries labeled him as such) that he was playing Paul Rabin. In the comics Paul dated Mary Jane after being trapped with her for four years in an alternate dimension where time moved faster; by the time they were brought back to our world, the two had already fallen in love and had two kids (who ended up being magical constructs or something). As such Paul is probably one of the most reviled recent characters in the comics.
Esfandi responded on on twitter saying that he is not playing Paul and apparently hates the idea that he would be playing him.
