Days prior to the anniversary, fans called out YG Entertainment why there appeared to be no proper celebration planned. Just two days before the anniversary, YG suddenly announced a “Meet & Greet” for only 40 fans somewhere in Seoul. Fans only had nine hours to apply, the location was kept a secret, and YG didn’t even confirm which members would attend, saying only those who were “available by schedule” would participate. In the end, all four members attended the fan meeting at the National Museum of Korea.

Korean tabloid Dispatch later reported that the event had been thrown together last minute, claiming that only two members initially wanted to attend while the other two had to adjust their schedules to make it happen.

Jisoo addressed the backlash in a Weverse post, writing that the anniversary felt like “a day full of regret” and apologized for disappointing fans. Meanwhile, Jennie shared a photo of all four members on Instagram and thanked fans for their support. Rosé thanked fans for staying with BLACKPINK from her debut at 19 to now being 29. Lisa also thanked fans for staying with them throughout the past 10 years and expressed her love for them.

The group also appeared together on a livestream before event, which only lasted around 11 minutes, with Jisoo once again addressing the criticism, saying there had been “a problem in communication”.

According to fans the event itself reportedly lasted around 30 minutes.

BONUS: On August 6 a fan was arrested for trying to smash the door of the YG Entertainment building with a gold club. According to unconfirmed rumors it was a BLACKPINK fan fed up with the way YG had been handling the whole thing.
