Brad Pitt has asked a court to order his ex-wife Angelina Jolie to hand over her movie earnings amid their ongoing bitter legal battle.

Legal documents obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday (04.08.26) include a request from Pitt’s lawyers – made during a court hearing on July 31 – that Jolie should provide “documents sufficient to show her income”, particularly from 2017 to 2019.
The legal team added that they are “not even seeking all of her profit statements … just seeking statements that show for films they are already in the money and she is receiving payments”.
Among the movies Jolie starred in during that period were 2019’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil according to IMDB (the Internet Movie Database).
The former couple, who share six children, are currently in the midst of a legal battle over Château Miraval, the French winery they owned together from 2008 to 2021.
Pitt was the first to file a legal suit against his ex, alleging that he and his former wife had a “two-party consent agreement” in place, but Jolie hit back with a countersuit, stating that there was no such agreement, and claiming she had attempted to buyout the actor’s shares in the winery, but alleged Pitt refused unless she signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
In response to the new request from Pitt’s lawyers, Jolie’s legal team argued that the financial information that has been requested is not relevant to their dispute.
The request is the latest in a string of back and forth between the exes’ legal teams, with Jolie’s lawyers previously stating that the actress had “largely put her career on hold, forgoing years of compensation in the process”.
While the new request will help put Jolie’s “coercion” and “economic leverage” claims into “context”, her legal team said.
Jolie’s lawyers then hit back, arguing that the “entire basis for Pitt compelling these answers is a made-up theory that Jolie did not allege”.
The response continued, “Pitt claims that Jolie has put her entire financial condition at issue going back to 2017 because of her allegation that she was seeking ‘financial independence.’
“But Pitt’s selective quote misleadingly fails to include the entirety of her allegation. Jolie does not allege that she was seeking financial independence in the abstract; she alleges that she was seeking ‘financial independence from her ex-husband.’
“Separating from one’s ex-husband is categorically different from an allegation that one is suffering general financial distress.”
Pitt and Jolie split in 2016, with their divorce finalised in December 2024.
