Ariana Grande will not appear in American Horror Story after being cast in season 13.
Deadline reported on Friday, July 10, that Grande, 33, has exited the horror series due to scheduling conflicts. The singer is currently on her Eternal Sunshine Tour and there were some scheduling changes on American Horror Story’s production schedule as well as Grande’s tour.
Last month, Grande rescheduled multiple July concerts including her stops in Brooklyn and Boston. The tour, which will conclude in September, has upcoming stops in New York, Canada, Chicago and London.
According to the outlet, Grande did not shoot any scenes for the upcoming season, which is set to premiere on September 24.

Last year, show creator Ryan Murphy announced via Instagram that Grande would be joining American Horror Story season 13. The pair previously worked together on Murphy’s series Scream Queens, in which Grande played Chanel No. 2.
Grande’s involvement in American Horror Story came following the success of Wicked and her starring role as Glinda. The actress has been booked and busy since as she is also appearing in the latest Fockers film, Focker-in-Law, which hits theaters on November 25. She will also reunite with Wicked costar Jonathan Bailey in a new stage production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Sunday In The Park With George.
Later this month, Grande is also dropping her eighth studio album, Petal, which will be released on July 31.
In addition to Grande, Murphy revealed that the American Horror Story cast included some former cast members. Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts and others will be returning for season 13. Longtime fans of American Horror Story immediately expressed their excitement for both Lange, 77, and Peters, 39, to return to the anthology series.
“Miss Lange said she’d only come back if Ryan Murphy wrote a good script again, hypeeee,” one user commented to Murphy’s post while multiple users replied with memes of Peters’ previous roles in the drama.

Peters’ addition to the cast came shortly after he publicly expressed interest to work with Murphy again. (The pair last collaborated on Murphy’s FX sci-fi body horror series The Beauty. Prior to that, they joined forces on Murphy’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story in 2022.)
While attending the 2025 Emmys, Peters made a joke about joining season 13 while looking at Murphy on the red carpet.
“Gotta call Ryan,” Peters teased to Entertainment Tonight in September 2025. “Gotta talk to him and see what’s going on with that. So, maybe we’ll get on that.”
