Ruby Rose has been hospitalised after breaking her ribs in a fall at home.

Ruby Rose suffered a brutal injury at home

The 40-year-old actress had been trying to spray part of her backyard overlooking her swimming pool, but she lost her footing and fell, cracking her ribs on the edge as she dropped into the water.

In a clip shared on her Instagram Story, she could be seen grasping at her ribs as she thrashed in the water.

Alongside a crying laughing emoji, she wrote: “RIP to my ribs, and the rest of my summer. They are broken, multiple. Straight to hospital, did not pass go or collect $200.”

Ruby shared the same clip on Threads, adding: “One second I’m here talking to you. The next I’m in the hospital with two broken ribs. What a bloody Monday.”

The Orange Is The New Black star previously revealed in 2019 how she was hospitalised after getting hurt on the set of the Batwoman series.

Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the time, Ruby said: “So, I did a stunt for a very extended amount of time, like seven hours, and we thought that I’d broken a rib, or just fractured a rib and that was, like, six to 12 weeks of healing.

“So, then I had six to 12 weeks of chronic pain and was just assuming that that’s what it was… I kept seeing these doctors and they said, ‘It’s your neck, it’s your neck. It just radiates into these places because of nerve endings.’

“I finally got an MRI and… and basically he called me and was like, ‘You could become a paraplegic.

“‘This is your spine. Two of your discs have herniated. And they’ve broken all of the protective layers. You have this tiny amount where your spine is not severed and if you don’t get back, you could become a paraplegic.’ “

Ruby had the surgery she needed, but the injuries had a lasting impact.

Back in March this year, she told TV Week: “2019 was so traumatic that my brain would literally shut down and turn off when I tried to talk about it.

“The memories around it were so bad that I had to put myself into a trauma facility for three months in 2021, so I could learn how to talk about what happened without fainting.

“It was a horrendous injury, and I was so very alone throughout the whole experience.

“I walked into the hospital alone and I walked out alone. But the entire time I was in their care, I was safe and loved.”
