Barry became a first-time father in August 2022 when he and his now-ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro welcomed a son together. The former couple named the little boy Brando, but Barry keeps most aspects of Brando’s life private.

And because I’ve arranged that, people draw a narrative and go, ‘Absent father. S–t, deadbeat dad.’ Just the audacity of some people, man. It sickens me more than it makes me furious.”
The Eternals actor continued, “People kind of have a judgment on me as a parent. There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength I have, I wouldn’t be sitting here. And people just read that laziness and go, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.’ I’m not an absent father.”

Barry has been open about his experience as a father and he admitted that his and Brando’s relationship was different.
“I’ll just say this — I didn’t have a father figure growing up, so even my relationship with my son isn’t quite of the normal father-son relationship because I don’t have that figure to draw experience from and to base it on,” Barry told Entertainment Weekly at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. “Love, you don’t need anything to draw from, love is pure, and so I’m not on about that, but I’m on about little stuff like teaching your son this or teaching your daughter that.”

When Barry and the “Espresso” singer called it quits in December 2024, The Batman actor faced plenty of backlash due to accusations that he had cheated on Sabrina. The negativity became so intense, he deleted his Instagram account in an effort to protect Brando.
“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to,” Barry wrote in a screenshot shared from his X account on December 7, 2024. “I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. He went on to claim that people were “knocking on his granny’s door” and even going as far as to sit outside Brando’s house “intimidating them.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what,” Barry concluded. “I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank u.”
