Selma Blair is appearing before a judge following her alleged midair meltdown.
Earlier today, the 54-year-old Cruel Intentions actress’ rep confirmed to Just Jared: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
It is said that she bit a flight attendant, assaulted another, and attempted to open the airplane door in flight.
After landing at JFK Airport in New York City, Selma was subsequently arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment and evaulation. While en route to the hospital, she allegedly “repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head” and then allegedly attacked a nurse as well.

Selma Blair’s attorneys claim she missed multiple doses of a “powerful” medication
While in court, Selma‘s attorney, Shawn Barnes, told Judge Indira Kahn that “this was not an intentional assault” (per The New York Post).
“Ms. Blair missed several doses of … a powerful medication that controls severe neurological symptoms,” he added, noting that the actress suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS).
Barnes also claimed that Selma “hit her head” during the flight.
“Ms. Blair boarded this flight after being on set and working extensive hours and exhaustive hours in the days leading up to this flight,” he said. “Additionally, at one point, during the flight, there was an incident where Miss Blair actually fell and hit her head.”
“These factors, coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” Barnes added.
Selma‘s other defense attorney, Joshua Reitzas, also said to Judge Kahn, “Consider her body of work and what she’s done for people. This is someone we should look up to. She is the gold standard.”
However, Judge Kahn clapped back with, “Ms. Blair should not get special treatment because she is a celebrity.”

Selma Blair released from police custody after posting bond
Judge Kahn set Selma‘s bail at $20,000 cash and $60,000 bond during the hearing. She posted the cash bail immediately and was released.
She was also ordered to stay away from the nurse she allegedly forcefully kicked in the chest while being taken to the hospital earlier in the day.
The Legally Blonde actress is due back in court in January 2027.
This is not the first time Selma has had issues on board an airplane.
If you don’t know, in 2016, Selma was taken off of a flight after an incident. Six months after the situation, she spoke out about what happened and revealed it was one of her lowest points with alcohol.
