Ryan Coogler Speaks Out About the ‘X-Files’ Reboot
“I’ve loved The X-Files for a long time, so getting the chance to write and direct the pilot has meant a great deal to me,” Ryan said in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
“What Chris Carter created is special, and we wanted to honor everything that made the original series connect with so many people while also finding our own way into that world,” he continued.
Ryan also praised Danielle, Himesh and the rest of the cast and crew for bringing their own perspectives to the series.
The X-Files creator Chris Carter is among the executive producers, alongside Ryan, Jennifer, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.
Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, who has collaborated with Ryan on several projects, also composed the score for the pilot episode.
The original The X-Files premiered in 1993 and starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The series originally ran for nine seasons before returning for two revival seasons in 2016 and 2018. It also inspired two feature films.
Hulu previously ordered the reboot’s pilot episode in February, when Danielle was announced as the first lead.
Himesh joined the cast in March.
A premiere date and episode count have not yet been announced.
