The Midsommar actress has been unveiled as a new ambassador for Jaguar cars, and opened up about how important it is to her to stick to her roots in all aspects of her life.
She told Vogue magazine of her new gig: “To me it’s always mattered where I sit and [what] I believe. I am 100% proud of my heritage and my Britishness.
“I haven’t leaned into what represents me in that way yet; I’ve been very focused on who I want to be first and what I want to be known for first.”
Florence added that she feels “hugely proud to be connected” to “legacy brand” that “makes us want to do better and want to be better”.
Her teaming up with Jaguar comes amid the brand unveiling their new Type 01, which can go from 60 to 112 miles per hour in just four seconds, and has over 1,000 horsepower.
Of the car’s incredible power, Florence added: “I grew up in a household of people that understood the beauty of engines and understood the sound and the feeling of what it is like to be behind something that powerful. I certainly caught the bug when I was younger.
“My dad had me on motorbikes when I was aged six, and my understanding of what it feels like to be in a beautifully crafted piece of machinery is unmatched to anything else.
“So it’s always important to feel and hear and understand a vehicle in a way that you don’t get with anything else in life.”
As for what it feels like “to be connected to a car that has that kind of power”, Florence giggled: “I’m just pretty gassed that I’m part of this relationship, to be honest.
“It’s a joy to think of the many hours and many minds that have gone into this creation.”
But don’t expect to see Florence driving a Jaguar Type 01 around her home town anytime soon.
She admitted: “I’m a bit apprehensive about figuring out the parking first; she’s a big girl. She’s got a good bum!”
