Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe apparently have more in common than their Hollywood careers!
New genealogical research from MyHeritage has found that the 29-year-old Euphoria actress and the late Hollywood icon are ninth cousins, once removed.
The connection was traced through both women’s paternal family lines, with Sydney connected through her father, Steven Sweeney, and Marilyn through her biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford.
According to MyHeritage, their family trees connect through a shared ancestor named Ezra Perry, who lived from approximately 1625 to 1689 and was an early settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
“People have always drawn parallels between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe, but seeing their paths align on a deeper level inspired us to look for a real bond in the MyHeritage archives,” Roi Mandel, the company’s Director of Research, said in a statement provided to Just Jared.
“Uncovering their shared branch was incredible, it’s a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree, and when we dig deep, we uncover how remarkably interconnected we all are,” he continued.
The distant family connection comes after Sydney has drawn comparisons to Marilyn over the years, including through some of her Old Hollywood-inspired fashion choices. Earlier this year, Sydney recreated a look similar to the one Marilyn wore on the cover of Life magazine in 1952.
