Billy Ray Cyrus wants to learn to cook – so he can make breakfast for Elizabeth Hurley.
Billy Ray Cyrus wants to cook for Elizabeth Hurley
The couple went public with their romance in April and have been dividing their time between his home in Tennessee and her country home in rural England, and while things are “great” between them, the Bedazzled star has been left less than impressed the Achy Breaky Heart singer’s culinary skills.
Appearing on UK TV show This Morning on Wednesday (07.10.26), Elizabeth said of their romance: “Blended families and blended continents. It’s actually great.
“I spent most of my working life in America, so I’m very easy in America.
“Billy hadn’t really been to England much, apart from short tours but he spent months on end in England, in the country. He loves it too.”
Asked if she is turning him into a country gent, she said: “Well, he’s definitely a country boy. He can’t cook or do anything like that, so he’s trying to learn because he wants to be able to bring me a tray, for breakfast or something, but that hasn’t happened yet.
“He claims, like all men, that he can barbecue but when I’m like, ‘Well here it is’, he goes, ‘Oh well it’s not gas’. Some of us use wood and charcoal. Oh no, no, no, no.”
But Billy wants to be more “active” with farm life.
Elizabeth added: “He wants to be more active and he did help me pick some apples. [The orchard] is neglected. It’s just a lot of sad trees. I picked 26 crates… Billy did help, he did a little bit.”
The 61-year-old actress previously opened up about the challenges of a long-distance relationship.
Speaking to E! News, she shared: “We’re very happy together.
“We’re really enjoying trying to get this balance between America and the UK. He’s always been based in America — Tennessee, for the last 35 years or something.”
And despite the distance, Elizabeth feels they have some strong similarities.
She said: “The good thing is that he’s very country where he is in Tennessee.
“I’m very country where I am. And that’s a really important thing in our relationship that neither of us want to be out and about.”
Elizabeth explained that they love “snuggling up and doing a lot of things with nature”.
She added: “Nobody would look at either of us and think that’s who we were, but we are. And I love it. I love gardening. He loves being outside in nature. We both love watching birds of prey. It’s a really lovely life.”
