Inde Navarrette has nailed down her next big movie role.
The 25-year-old Obsession breakout star is set to appear in The Waffle House Index, via Deadline.
Louis Paxton is set to direct a script penned by Andrew Nunnelly.
What Is The Waffle House Index About?
The movie follows Jane, who works the graveyard shift at her local Waffle House with a storm coming,
Here’s the full logline from Black List: “The following three things are true: 1. The WAFFLE HOUSE INDEX is a metric used by FEMA to measure the severity of a natural disaster. 2. Jane works the graveyard shift at her local Waffle House. 3. There’s a storm coming.”
What Is the Real-Life Waffle House Index?
The “Waffle House Index” is an informal term used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to measure how badly a natural disaster has damaged an area. Because the restaurants rarely close, emergency workers look at how many are open in an area to judge local conditions.
Inde will also serve as executive producer of the project, which is said to have had its “script at the top of her list” among many offers.
Apple Original Films reportedly moved quickly to land rights to the project.
The Waffle House Index news comes after it was revealed that Inde will be playing Rogue in the upcoming X-Men project for Marvel. A producer also shut down a rumor that she declined an offer for another project.
The casting reveal also comes as news broke of the Obsession Oscars campaign, which will include a push for Inde in the Best Actress category.
