Julie Chen Moonves already has several Big Brother alumni in mind who could eventually take over her hosting duties.

The television personality has fronted the CBS reality competition since it premiered in 2000. While speaking to Variety about the franchise’s upcoming 1,000th episode, she was asked about speculation that season 24 winner Taylor Hale could one day succeed her.

“I’ve wondered that too because, to me, she would be perfect,” Julie said.

Taylor currently co-hosts Big Brother: Unlocked alongside season 16 winner Derrick Levasseur and actor Jerry O’Connell. She also works as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and previously led the season 26 jury roundtable after Dr. Will Kirby stepped away from that role.

Julie offered some other possibilities as well. She suggested Derrick, who has experience hosting podcasts and producing true-crime programming, as another potential replacement.

Season 11 couple Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd were among her other choices. Jeff has worked as a television host, and the married couple currently hosts a podcast devoted to Big Brother.

The conversation was hypothetical, and Julie did not announce any plans to leave the show. She previously joked in 2025 she wanted to remain host until her teenage son was old enough to replace her.

Big Brother is currently airing its 28th season and will celebrate its 1,000th episode on Thursday (August 27). The milestone broadcast will include a live eviction, a retrospective, and appearances by former houseguests selected through fan voting.
