QVC program host Rick Domeier will never forget working with the one and only Joan Rivers.
“She loved the QVC viewers, and she loved her line of jewelry and fashion,” Domeier, 65, shares in Us’ exclusive sneak peek of the Thursday, August 13, episode of A QVC Story. “I think the QVC viewers will always remember her for that. This was her life. She loved what she did, and I know she loved the QVC viewer.”
For many years, Rivers brought her eye for style to QVC with the Joan Rivers Classics Collection. The line included everything from clothes and jewelry to beauty items and fashion pins.
Although Rivers died in 2014 at the age of 81, home shoppers can still find new items from the brand.
“When we were asked to go to her funeral, which was in New York … we walked out of the service and there were all these people across the street,” Domeier recalls in the clip. “Someone across the street said, ‘QVC.’ The barricades went down and all these people came across because they knew Joan from the talk shows and the other things, but they loved her because of QVC and that relationship. It was so moving to meet these people who had this connection to Joan and QVC.”
Domeier attended the funeral service with fellow QVC hosts Kathy Levine, Lisa Robertson, Mary Beth Roe, Jill Bauer and Jane Treacy.
“It was a day filled with music, tears, laughter (OK, lots of laughter) and an overwhelming sense of gratitude,” Domeier wrote via Facebook in September 2014. “It was a day filled with sharing 20+ years of memories, working with the one and only Joan.”

A QVC Story is a four-part documentary chronicling the shopping network’s origins in honor of its 40th anniversary. In Thursday’s new installment, titled “The Shopping Revolution,” audiences will observe how QVC blasted into the digital age with the arrival of iconic hosts, including Mary DeAngelis, Sandra Bennett, Shawn Killinger and Alberti Popaj.
Back in May 2025, Us caught up with Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, at QVC’s TikTok’s Super Brand Day.
When asked about the Joan Rivers Classics Collection, Melissa, 58, wasn’t surprised to see the brand continuing to thrive.
“I think we keep it updated and fresh,” she said. “Same thing with age: You never want to get stale.”
As for why so many hosts like Domeier loved working with Joan, Melissa had a theory.
“My mom was fun. She made them have fun. It wasn’t just a sell. It was a conversation,” she said. “My mom loved designing, and she loved that somebody gave her a chance to do something that she was passionate about and that she was able to truly resonate with the QVC viewer.”
A QVC Story is streaming for free on QVC+ and HSN+.
