Cristiano Ronaldo has got married.
Georgina Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo are married
The Portuguese footballing legend tied the knot with long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez after almost 10 years together in a “private and intimate” civil ceremony in his home country on Tuesday (10.08.26).
A spokesperson for the couple told Us Weekly in a statement: “Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married today in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, and are now officially husband and wife.
“The ceremony was a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.”
The news comes days after fans caused chaos in Madeira on Saturday (08.08.26) when thousands of fans were convinced the couple were getting married.
Crowds in football shirts swarmed Funchal Cathedral, following rumours the 41‑year‑old soccer star was tying the knot with the model under a fake name.
Viral footage showed supporters packed around the building, with some trying to peer inside as rumours spread that Ronaldo’s “secret ceremony” was taking place.
The frenzy turned out to be completely wrong.
The couple actually getting married were Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, a French pair with Madeira roots, who reportedly had to push through the crowds just to reach their own wedding.
Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro unintentionally helped fuel the speculation after posting about arriving on the island for a “party,” sending fans into overdrive.
Ronaldo later reacted to a local news report about the mix‑up by leaving five crying‑laughing emojis on Instagram.
Ronaldo and Georgina got engaged in 2025, and he previously suggested they would marry sometime after the World Cup, which ended on July 19.
He told Piers Morgan last November: “We don’t have a date yet [for the wedding], but we plan to do it after the World Cup, with the trophy. We didn’t plan that [the venue] because she’s not someone who likes big parties. She likes private things, and I will respect that.”
However, Portugal didn’t win the tournament, with Spain taking the trophy.
The couple announced their engagement in August 2025, with Georgina sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram and captioning it: “Yes I do. In this and all my lives.”
Ronaldo – who previously dated actress Irina Shayk – admitted he became emotional during the proposal.
He told Morgan: “I didn’t cry, but I had tears in my eyes.”
Ronaldo said he spent a long time searching for the perfect ring because it was Georgina’s dream to have “a good stone.”
He said: “She asked me for a ring to offer her because it was one of her dreams to have a good stone. And I work hard, work hard and finally I find what she love.”
Ronaldo insists he’s “not a romantic guy” by nature, but said the moment felt right.
He recalled proposing at 1am, with his children unexpectedly walking in as he was about to give Georgina the ring.
He said: “I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.’ It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn’t planned to do it then.”
