Derek Fisher and wife Gloria Govan have split up.
On Friday (July 24), it was reported that the 51-year-old former NBA star and the 41-year-old Basketball Wives star have separated after five years of marriage.
A rep for the estranged couple confirmed their split to TMZ, revealing that Derek and Gloria have been living separately and leading separate lives. However, the two are not heading towards a divorce just yet.
The outlet says they were told that Derek and Gloria have “built a family together and are in constant communication, trying to work through their issues.”
If you didn’t know, Derek and Gloria first started dating in 2015 and he proposed in April 2018.
They married in July 2021 at Cielo Farms in Malibu, Calif. after postponing their original 2020 wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Derek and Gloria have both been married before. Gloria was previously married to former NBA star Matt Barnes, with whom she shares twin sons, while Derek was married to Candace Fisher. Derek and Candace share four children together.
After playing in the NBA for 18 seasons, Derek went on to coach the New York Knicks and then the Los Angeles Sparks. He is now the head coach for Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, Calif.
