On July 13, L7 shared that bassist Jennifer Finch was undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer and that “unforeseen complications led to multiple surgeries and a string of difficult setbacks.” Yesterday the band announced that Jennifer passed away at the age of 59.
In May, the band announced North American dates for the first leg of their Last Hurrah tour, scheduled to begin in October. In June, Donita Sparks said in an interview that they were planning to release an EP and take the tour worldwide. When the band shared Jennifer’s medical issues last week, they said they intended to proceed with the tour without Jennifer, per her wishes.
Her family started a GoFundMe last week. In addition to covering out of pocket medical costs, they said they also wanted to use the funds to preserve Jennifer’s legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work, as well as to help complete a creative project that was scheduled for release next year.
