Octet is LMM’s second directed feature film and is an adaptation of Dave Malloy’s off-broadway musical of the same name. The acapella musical is about 8 strangers in a church basement who are meeting for an internet addiction support group.
The film will star Amanda Seyfried, Rachel Zegler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Philipa Soo, Gaten Matarazzo, Jonathan Groff, Tramell Tillman, and Paul-Jordan Jansen. Regarding the casting, LMM told his casting director Bernie Tesley, “I don’t just need theater kids: I need choir kids. I need people who can sing and listen at the same time.”
They rehearsed for five weeks, shot in 22 days, and are currently looking for distribution.
