Aspyn Ovard is defending her spot on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County — even if she’s not Mormon or married.
“The spinoff has been very similar to the reaction that the first show got, that people were criticizing the word Mormon or even wife,” Aspyn, 30, shared in a Monday, May 11, YouTube video. “Obviously, I’m not a wife. I’m not married. [But] there are a lot of Mormon girls in the cast. I think there’s only two of us that are not married.”
Aspyn reminded viewers that she was baptized into the Mormon church when she was 9 years old. Growing up, however, the religion she was born into played less of a role in the influencer’s life.
“I have so many ties to Mormonism from growing up in Utah, getting married young and just being surrounded by that culture,” she explained. “I’ve talked about Utah culture and how it has affected me and shaped my life in so many ways, even as someone who was not Mormon.”
Aspyn continued, “I can’t disagree that something like Secret Lives of OC Wives or OC Influencers would have maybe been a title that makes more sense. But not even all the girls are influencers. I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t really care. I definitely feel like I have enough ties to Mormons.”
Back in April, Hulu announced that a new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County would come together for a new show based on the hit series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Bobbi Althoff, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, McCall DaPron, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease and Madison Bontempo would join Aspyn for the show, which is expected to premiere later this year.
“Last year, I was approached to do the show,” Aspyn shared in her latest YouTube video. “You still have to go through the whole casting process and all of that. I did that. I didn’t know if it was going to actually happen. I feel like they do things like this all the time where they talk about a show or a spinoff or whatever and things don’t actually happen. But it’s happening. We’ve been filming.”
Aspyn is known as a YouTube star who shares family content with her ex, Parker Ferris. The duo share daughters Cove, Lola and Elle. They welcomed Elle in April 2024, days after Aspyn filed for divorce. Aspyn later came out as queer and is now dating Bri Davis.
“I feel like you guys know how I feel about the Mormon church,” she teased on YouTube. “I have worked hard to create a new life with divorce and moving.”
