Perez Hilton wants to keep his “very real experience” with God private after nearly dying in hospital.

Perez Hilton claims he had a ‘very real’ experience with God

Last month, the 48-year-old star revealed he had spent 21 days in hospital battling sepsis, which led to two surgeries and various medical issues including deep vein thrombosis, fluid on his lungs, kidney problems, and an irregular heartbeat, before he felt God “presenting Himself to me” to aid his “miraculous” recovery.

Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, he said: “Some things should be kept private, and what happened with me and God was so real, so powerful, and so personal, that I want to keep it between me and God.

“What’s important to me is my personal relationship with God, and I am praying to God daily, several times a day, and crying, but all happy tears recently. Happy tears.”

The celebrity gossip blogger and former Celebrity Big Brother UK star did open up a little, and recalled feeling “very calm on the outside” while he was fearing death at the time.

He added: I remember it was late at night, and my sweet, dear, strong mother had been going to the hospital every day, but this incident happened at night.

“I was simultaneously still and very calm on the outside, but on the inside, I was freaking out, and my brain was racing, and I thought I was gonna die.”

Meanwhile, Perez insisted his experience has allowed him to forgive himself for past mistakes, having come under fire in the past for the nicknames he’s given certain celebrities, and for outing gay stars.

He said: “To have this experience with God and to know that God loves me, and God forgives me, it was very healing, because I then forgave myself.”

He compared his past to being a “drug addict” in that he just couldn’t stop what he was doing because of the “hit” he got from his actions.

He explained: “It’s like if you’re a drug addict, and you’re stealing from your parents’ money to buy drugs. You know what you’re doing is wrong, and you don’t care. You just want that hit.

“And that was truly what I was doing.”

Perez acknowledged he has “made a lot of mistakes in the past which are very public”.

He added: “Which I own. Which I regret, which I have deep shame for, which I’ve apologised for repeatedly, publicly as well as privately.”
