Follow up to this post. After the U.S. men’s hockey team posted videos of themselves celebrating their gold medal win and laughing it up when Trump said he would have to invite the women’s team to the State of the Union so he doesn’t get impeached, the women’s hockey team turned down his non-vitation.
In response, Flavor Flav has offered to celebrate with them in Las Vegas. Flav has been an enthusiastic supporter of women’s sports. After seeing the U.S. women’s water polo captain (a three time time Olympic gold medalist) post about how difficult it is for many female athletes to pay for their training expenses in addition to basics like rent and food, Flav sponsored the entire women’s water polo team. He not only attended some of their pre-Olympic matches but he also arranged for every team member to get a free weeklong cruise and a $1000 cash bonus.
While he was at the 2024 Paris Olympics, American discus thrower and Vanderbilt student Veronica Fraley posted her frustration about not having enough money to pay for her expenses and he immediately contacted her to donate money. While in Paris, he also hung out with the women’s rugby team and attended the women’s water polo matches.
A few months ago, he also became a sponsor of the U.S. bobsled and skeleton team for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano. And unrelated to sports, Flav also did his part to save Red Lobster.
