Gisele Shaw (real name Gisele Mayordo) is a professional wrestler currently signed to IMPACT Wrestling. Last year she publically came out as transgender. Yesterday she shared on Twitter an incident that happened at Wrestlecon where she was walking to her autograph table and someone began to yell transphobic comments and slurs at her. Initially, Gisele ignored them but later she wanted to know who it was, she walked by the same area again and the same person yelled at her. That person was retired wrestling legend Rick Steiner.
Gisele was upset by the incident and even more upset that the other wrestling legends around Steiner didn’t say anything. She also shared that Steiner also called one of her co-workers the f slur that same day.
There has been a huge outpouring of love and support for Gisele on Twitter. She said she is not sharing the story for sympathy but rather to call out this type of behaviour and to call out those who sat by and did nothing. She also said she would no longer work with anyone who also works with Steiner.
