The latest VHS horror film VHS 85 apparently has a plagiarism problem. The first segment, the positively reviewed “No Wake” is allegedly a complete rip off of the short film “Kayak” by filmmakers Oddest of the Odd. They released a video showing all the similarities, right down to the dialogue.
Director Mike P Nelson has limited his Instagram comments after the filmmakers exposed him.
The original short’s filmmakers are frustrated but are also open to making a segment for a future VHS installment if asked.
