5 Fave Moments from Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour

The Renaissance World Tour has officially ended in Kansas City, MO! It should have ended in New Orleans but logistics. Here are five of my own favorite moments:

    Blue Ivy’s evolution

Eleven year old Blue Ivy joined her mother for most stops of the world tour, serving as a backup dancer during Black Parade and My Power. She started off subdued back in May, but by October was eating the girls UP.

Jon Hetherington was all set to see the RWT in Seattle, his first ever Beyoncé concert after 25 years of fandom. Unfortunately, he was denied boarding the flight after the airline said they could not accommodate his electric wheelchair. Jon, who has cerebral palsy, took to the Internet to share his disappointment over missing the show and the realities of ableism. The Beyhive immediately got to work tagging Beyoncé’s publicist, BeyGood, Tina Knowles, and everyone and they mama until the situation was resolved.

Jon was personally invited to see the show in Dallas and got to go backstage and meet the dancers, Tina Knowles, and Beyoncé herself (who otherwise wasn’t doing any meet and greets).

He’s also using the opportunity to encourage folks to get involved in dismantling ableism – check out his Instagram.

Ballroom commentator Kevin Jz Prodigy served as the “voice” of the tour, and ballroom legend Kevin Aviance’s “Cunty” was sampled on the song Pure/Honey. Both Kevins attended the tour and it was heartwarming and cute.

First of all, this is just something cute and fun so don’t get in your feelings about Beyoncé making her fans “work,” okay?? Anyway, winner: New Orleans. Loser: all of Europe TBQH.

[Diana Ross blowing off Lionel Richie to sing Queen Bey happy birthday instead]Diana Ross blowing off Lionel Richie to sing Queen Bey happy birthday instead

At the September 4 stop in Los Angeles, Diana Ross performed a bit of Love Hangover and sang happy birthday to Beyoncé onstage (and Kendrick Lamar also joined for a surprise performance of America’s Got a Problem). Lionel Richie was in San Francisco performing his own concert and was jokingly hurt that Diana (once again) said no to performing with him but said yes to sing happy birthday to Beyoncé instead. Oop.

If you disagree with my highlights, well…
