PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie took the top spot this weekend with $23 million from 3,989 theaters. The $30 million children’s film nabbed an A Cinemascore and another $23.1 million internationally for a $46.1 million debut.
Saw X debuted in 2nd with $18 million. The $13 million film took another $11.3 million internationally for a global $29.3 million. Its not the highest opening in the franchse, but an improvement over the last two films. The film earned a B Cinemscore and a 3.5 on Letterboxd. Its the second-highest rated of the franchise on the site, just below the original’s 3.6.
Meanwhile the big blockbuster of the weekend — The Creator — cratered in 3rd with $14 million. The $80 million film took $18.2 million internationally for a $32.3 million debut. It nabbed a B+ Cinemascore and a 3.5 on Letterboxd.
The Nun II followed in 4th with $4.6 million. The Blind, a film about Duck Dynasty big Phil Robertson, rounded out the Top 5th with a $4.11 million debut.
Meanwhile, Dumb Money saw a wide expansion to 2,837 theaters and took in only $3.5 million. The Expendables 4 dropped 69% from its debut last weekend to gross $2.49 million. The film will barely pass the $20 million mark by the end of its run, if it even gets to that point.
Barbenheimer’s run is beginning to come to a close. Weekend 11 saw Barbie lose half its theaters and grossed $1.4 million, while Oppenheimer lost over 800 theaters and took in $650k. The duo has earned $955.6 million domestically and $2.36 billion worldwide.
