The Nun II debuted this weekend at the top spot with a solid $32.6 million from 3,728 theaters. While that’s off 39% from the first film, the sequel’s has a $38.5 million production cost. Audiences didn’t like it, of course, giving it a C+ Cinemascore, 47% recommend from PostTrak and a 2.5 on Letterboxd.
Last week’s top film — The Equalizer 3 — tumbled 65% to second with $12.1 million. Its domestic total so far stands at $61.8 million.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 debuted in 3rd with $10 million from 3,650 theaters. Audiences responded to the movie no one really asked for in kind: a B Cinemascore, 55% recommend from PostTrak and a 2.4 on Letterboxd.
Jawan followed at 4th place with a $6.2 million debut from 813 theaters. Barbie rounded out the Top 5 with $5.9 million, dropping 42% in its 8th weekend. Oppenheimer dropped to 8th with $3 million, a 48% drop. At $891 million worldwide, expect it to pass $900 million any day now. Bottoms also expanded to 1,265 theaters and nabbed $2.05 million.
