David Krumholtz is getting back to work.

After announcing that he was taking an “indefinite break” from acting back in August, Deadline revealed on Wednesday (October 7) that the 48-year-old actor has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming limited series The Trial of Louise Woodward.

From creator Matthew Barry, The Trial of Louise Woodward “tells the shocking true story of how, in 1997, an 18-year-old British au pair was accused of shaking to death a baby left in her care by her American host family, setting off an international media firestorm as the trial unfolds in full view of both the British and American public.”

David will be playing criminal defense attorney Harvey Silvergate.

Why David Krumholtz Announced His Acting Break in August

Over the summer, David announced that he was “putting his acting career on hold” for an indefinite amount of time as he admitted he was “fed up” by the entertainment industry.

“I am wildly grateful, as more than one of my biggest dreams have come true as a result of being an actor. Grateful to all who support and believe in me. However, a time has come where the weight of those dreams and ambitions has become surprisingly oppressive. That’s a me problem, not a Hollywood as a whole problem,” he wrote at the time.

After clarifying that this was not him announcing his retirement, David said he wanted to take a step back to figure out his next move and focus on his mental health.

“Need time to figure that out, let it heal. My mental health is vital to my family,” David shared. “My career has run the gamut. I’m in disbelief. But I find myself at a crossroads between the inherent self involvement being a professional actor requires, and a burning desire to give more of myself to others in need, in whatever way I can. And so, for the time being, I’m pursuing that goal. There’s still more work to come. Stuff to be seen. And as always, I really hope you enjoy what I’ve put out there. Just,… gimme a sec.”
