Hayden Panettiere’s final years were marked by troubling incidents involving Brian Hickerson, according to a new report.
Panettiere died earlier this month at the age of 36, and now, a former neighbor is revealing disturbing details about what she witnessed while the actress was living with her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
Mia Terrazas, who still lives at the West Hollywood condominium where Panettiere once resided, tells Page Six she saw the actress being taken from the apartment on a gurney by firefighters on two separate occasions.
According to Terrazas, the incidents occurred on July 29, 2023, and January 16, 2024. She claims Panettiere appeared to have “bright red spots” and “bruises” on her body and looked as though she had been “battered.”
Terrazas’ daughter, Vileena Koneru, also witnessed the 2024 incident and reportedly tried to express her concerns to firefighters.
The neighbor claims Hickerson was present both times and remained “glued to” Panettiere as she was taken away.
During one of the incidents, Terrazas says she asked the actress if she was OK while she was lying on the gurney.
Panettiere allegedly responded, “Yes.”
Terrazas says she had already become concerned about what was happening inside Panettiere’s apartment, claiming she frequently heard “muffled arguments” between the actress and Hickerson.
“You can tell somebody’s arguing just by the tonality. … It was very hostile,” she recalled.
On another occasion, Terrazas claims she heard Panettiere screaming at Hickerson in an elevator.
“Just leave me alone! Just stop!” Panettiere allegedly yelled.
The neighbor also described Hickerson as someone who “always seemed to be high or disconnected,” although she emphasized that she never personally saw either Panettiere or Hickerson using drugs.
She said Hickerson had an “odd, flat effect” and that Panettiere sometimes appeared “out of it.”
Terrazas remembered Panettiere much more fondly, describing the actress as “lovely” and saying she was “such a bright light.”
According to one report, Hickerson was eventually banned from the property by the complex’s homeowners’ association.
The allegations come as questions surrounding Panettiere’s death continue to mount. The actress died at age 36 on August 16 at an Airbnb in South Carolina. Hickerson and his brother, Zach, were reportedly present around the time of her death.
Panettiere had previously spoken publicly about her tumultuous relationship with Hickerson and detailed allegations of abuse in her 2023 memoir.
Hickerson pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts involving injury to a spouse or girlfriend in connection with incidents involving Panettiere.
He received a jail sentence, probation, domestic-violence classes and a five-year protective order.
Despite the order and the couple’s turbulent history, Panettiere and Hickerson repeatedly reconciled.
An autopsy reportedly found no signs of trauma following Panettiere’s death. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death continues.
