After a dramatic announcement saying Prince and family were coming back to England at the “eleventh hour” the situation changed and only Prince Harry will be coming due to RAVEC saying tax-funded security will not be provided. Which caused Harry great distress to the “point of tears” according to the reports Harry put out.
In addition to the security issue, accommodations had been another sticking point. There was a lotta back-n-forth in the press about it from both sides. The Palace’s side had put out that Charles had offered Harry and family rooms at Buckingham but that no RVSP had been made and Harry’s side had been mentioning still looking for accommodations but clearly wasn’t interested in Buckingham.
Now after it was decided that Harry would be flying solo it seems like he reluctantly accepted room and board at Buckingham only for the palace to say the offer is off the table due to not making the July 3rd deadline to confirm his stay.
A sussex source (Harry) stated “How is there not one room available for the king’s son for one night?”
But Royal experts say it’s less Charles and more the courtiers run things: “The courtiers. It’s always them, of course it is,” he said. “If the king wants to see Harry, they will meet. [The courtiers] can always arrange something, but this sounds like it has become far too complicated and everyone is too fed up.”
But another source says it’s really Charles: The king’s patience snapped. He wants to be a loving father and grandfather but that was being tested beyond endurance. He is not willing to be pushed around, nor to indulge a constant state of chaos.”
Harry reasoning for missing the deadline: “I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence,” the spokesperson said. “Following [the Royal and VIP Executive Committee’s] decision not to provide security for his family, the duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.”
But apparently since Harry has another court cases against a tabloid on Monday, it wouldn’t have been seen as appropriate to be a Buckingham according to palace sources. (OP’s note: Lol I’ll give Harry this one since they probably knew in advance about that upcoming court case)
