Zendaya is sharing parting words after the season three finale of Euphoria.
The 29-year-old actress has won an Emmy award for her portrayal of Rue Bennett in the first two seasons, and is ending her seven-year journey with the HBO series.
As it was speculated to happen, Zendaya‘s character died in the season three finale after taking pain pills that were laced with fentanyl.
After the episode finished, a behind-the-scenes video played, as one has throughout all three seasons, and this week’s kicked off with Zendaya giving a speech on her last day of filming.
“I just want to say thank you,” she says in a microphone to the crew, getting emotional. “I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of you, and many of you have been here from the beginning, and watched me grow up.”
“It’s been such a pleasure and an honor. Thank you so much,” she adds.
The video then went on with a message from creator, writer and director Sam Levinson.
“Zendaya‘s performance has been so wonderful and layered over the course of these seasons,” he shares. “You know, we fell in love with this character. This girl who’s flawed and f-cked up, but has a good heart. And trying to do right, at least sometimes.”
Cinematographer Marcell Rév also shared some words about Zendaya‘s last day on set.
“Z‘s last shooting day, we shot some driving stuff with her. It was a very emotional day,” he said.
Sam added, “It’s a blessing to work with talented people, people that you love. I feel so lucky.”
Hunter Schafer recalled have Zendaya has a scene partner.
“I feel so lucky my first major scene partner ended up being a soulmate,” she shared. “Z is somebody that I’m gonna be talking to when I’m old. I love her to the moon and back.”
Later in the clip, Sam says that this just “felt like the honest ending.”
“The honest ending is people like Rue don’t make it,” he shared.
