Carl Radke can confirm he’s “still a mess” — and has a lot of thoughts about how West Wilson acted during the Summer House season 10 reunion.
“I think a lot of us were hoping to feel the feeling you get when someone actually apologizes and takes accountability,” Carl, 41, told Us Weekly exclusively on Tuesday, May 26, while reflecting on the reunion at the Carl’s Not a Mess event in Brooklyn, hosted by Gonna Need Milk. “And I didn’t.”
Carl said that he still “didn’t” get those feelings from West and costar Amanda Batula when watching the emotional reunion.
“That’s what’s hard,” he continued, “People are really hurt.”
Part 1 of the Summer House reunion, which premiered on Tuesday, attempted to offer insight into the timeline of Amanda, 34, and West’s shocking romance. Amanda moved on from her marriage to costar Kyle Cooke with West, who previously dated her best friend Ciara Miller.
“Watching that s***, the footage of West at his family house with Kyle. Like, he not only brought Ciara home, he brought Kyle home, and then does that,” Carl continued. “It’s just diabolical. So watching some of that clip is, like, it’s hard to kind of process.”
Kyle noted during Tuesday’s reunion that he considered West a close friend before the recent relationship drama, which Amanda and West denied was a “sex scandal.” The biggest issue for the Summer House cast was Amanda and West’s constant lying before taking their romance public in late March.
Carl told Us that he “100 percent” sees Amanda and West’s behavior throughout the season in “a new lens” knowing that they’re together.
“I’ve never put my hands on women that I’m not dating or hooking up with. So watching some of that back actually pisses me off. It’s upsetting,” Carl said, referring to West’s touchy demeanor toward Amanda, which has been dissected online. “I don’t know, I don’t like it.”
One thing that’s been hard for Carl is how they’ve made him “question everything” — even after the reunion.
“It’s still being questioned,” he said, teasing that there’s “more to come” from the Amanda and West conversation.
“I’m gonna remain positive,” he added. “I feel like we got a lot off our chest, put it all on the table, but I think even since the reunions ended, I’ve seen other little things happen. Podcasts, spotted out in public, and those tell me a different story. Those tell me you don’t give a s***.”
For Carl, the only “real apology” from Amanda and West at this point would be to see them changing their behavior.
“You can say you’re sorry all day long, but West and her need to really dig deep, and, I think, find themselves” he continued. “I’ve said many times, I don’t hold space for s*** like that.”
He added, “A lot of us have really been through a lot on this show, and this feels really just insane and different and manipulative and deceitful. I can’t recall a time where it felt like that.”
Going forward, Carl is continuing to focus on his Soft Bar business and his sobriety, and his love for milk made the perfect partnership.
“As someone who’s sober, there are tons of options out there. This is a different kind of thing to have fun with,” he explained. “I think people forget about there’s White Russians, there’s Black Russians, there’s tons of drinks — piña coladas — that do use milk. So why not have a healthier mental well-being, fun night.”
Carl explained that he’s “been drinking milk by the carton” since he was a kid.
“I still argue that the reason I’m so tall is because of milk,” he added. “I’ve never broken a bone. So, thank you, milk.”
Part 2 of the Summer House reunion airs Tuesday, June 2, on Bravo at 8 p.m. ET. Every episode from season 10 is now streaming via Peacock.
