Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are stepping out for the night in Canada!
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed for photos together on the red carpet as they arrived at the David Foster Foundation 40th Anniversary Celebration on Friday night (August 7) in Victoria, British Columbia.
For the event, Meghan, 45, looked chic in a black dress by Canadian designer Greta Constantine and accessorized the look with diamond and sapphire earrings that once belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana. Harry, 41, coordinated in a black tux and bowtie.
As they arrived at the event, they posed with host David Foster and his wife Katharine McPhee. The 76-year-old music producer and the 42-year-old singer has been good friends with the couple for years.
In 2019, David arranged for Harry and Meghan to stay at a mansion on Vancouver Island owned by a close friend, although he declined to name the owner.
“I felt honored that I was able to help Meghan there because I’m a Canadian, and we’re a Commonwealth country; we’re the Crown’s. It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment,” David told the Daily Mail in 2020. “I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite just to take a little time off.”
He added, “The owner has allowed this to happen through me, and I was happy to facilitate. I don’t know what their next plans are, but I know that it was reinvigorating for them to spend some downtime. This is a great testament to my hometown of Victoria that they were able to go under the radar for so long.”
Katharine actually grew up with Meghan and did musicals together when they were younger! The American Idol alum’s older sister Adriana went to the same school in Los Angeles with the Suits actress.
