Aubry Bracco won the $2 million grand prize on the season finale of Survivor 50, which the Kalshi betting market predicted would happen before the season even began airing.
With more contestants than any other season in the past, Survivor 50 had some of the best players of all time coming together to give fans the most exciting edition of the game so far. It seems pretty surprising that the betting markets were able to correctly predict the winner, unless someone leaked the news.
How did betting markets predict the Survivor winner correctly?
“I’m so curious what happened with that and what happens with that in the future. It seems so wild,” Aubry told The Hollywood Reporter.
Ahead of the season airing, Kalshi had Aubry at a 73% chance of winning the show.
“I’d have people sending me that stuff all season and I just would be like, ‘Okay.’ Or, ‘Oh, interesting.’ You see there are articles about Kalshi and your name is in The New York Times. It was so strange. What a strange cultural moment for all of us, where my name is the example and stuff. It’s bizarre. I wonder what’s going to happen with it,” Aubry added.
Did Aubry know she was going to win Survivor in advance?
The 11 players on the jury placed their votes months ago when the show was filmed, but the votes weren’t read aloud until the live finale on May 20. So, did Aubry know she was going to win?
Oh my gosh. Christian, Emily and Devens were tightlipped. I was hoping I would have them. I didn’t know. I was honored and surprised that I had all three of them. (Crying) There’s the emotion again. You wait nine months for this! I didn’t know. Jonathan didn’t know. We have talked about it. I feel for Jonathan, I think he played a really good game and Joe is the most wonderful human being ever. So it’s hard. It’s hard to sit in the final three. It’s the second time I’ve been there.
