Patrick Ball visited CBS mornings dressed in head to toe Thom Browne. He said before he was cast on The Pitt, he was working three jobs simultaneously (a Chelsea coffee shop, a Fort Green restaurant, and driving the wardrobe department for the Sex and the City revival And Just Like That to local stores to buy shoes for Carrie Bradshaw). He had been auditioning for shows since 2013 and was “looking for an off ramp” when he sent a self tape for The Pitt. He was visiting his parents in North Carolina when he got the callback. Since he was at home, he got to read the pilot script for The Pitt with his mom, who is an ER nurse, and his dad, who is a paramedic.
Patrick is four years sober, but he didn’t know initially that Langdon would be an addict. When he flew to LA to screen test for the role, they sent him the scene where Langdon gets fired, which is how he learned about that plot. He said telling Langdon’s story of being in recovery means a lot to him. The patient who glued her eye shut this season is Patrick’s IRL girlfriend, Elysia Roorbach. They met while doing a play in Miami.
Patrick is making his Broadway debut in Becky Shaw alongside Madeline Brewer and Alden Ehrenreich. The show began previews on March 18 and officially opens on April 6.
