Will Trent left the fate of several main characters unclear before season 4 — so which cast members are and aren’t returning to the show?
Based on a book by Karin Slaughter, Will Trent follows a special agent at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who was abandoned at birth and grew up in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Will (Ramón Rodríguez) now relies on his unique perspective while pursuing justice, which leads to the highest clearance rate in the GBI.
In addition to Rodríguez, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, Sonja Sohn, Kevin Daniels and Bluebell the dog make up the rest of the cast.
Season 3, which wrapped up in May 2025, concluded with Angie (Christensen) deciding to carry her unplanned pregnancy to term. Will, meanwhile, found his dad while both Ormewood (McLaughlin) and Amanda (Sohn) were left in life or death situations.

There would be no Will Trent without Will so Rodríguez is expected to be front and center.
Erika Christensen
Angie will once again be a major player on Will Trent when the show returns.
Iantha Richardson
Richardson’s role as Will’s partner Faith will continue in season 4.
Jake McLaughlin
McLaughlin is returning after Ormewood found out he had a brain tumor. The last time viewers saw the character, he had collapsed at his home and Faith had to call an ambulance to help him.
Sonja Sohn
Since Sohn was featured in promotional videos for season 4, it feels safe to assume that Amanda will be back after a shooting led to critical surgery.
Bluebell
Another character that will always be featured on Will Trent? Bluebell the dog, who plays Will’s faithful companion and the unofficial emotional support dog for his loved ones: Betty.
Kevin Daniels
After having a recurring role in the first three seasons, Daniels has been promoted to main cast and Franklin will be featured more on the hit ABC series.

With Angie expecting a baby with Seth, Foley will likely be appearing in season 4.
