Dave Franco and Alison Brie recreated a billboard for their upcoming co-dependent body horror film “Together”. It also doubles as promotion for a contest to go to the premiere next week. The film opens Wednesday, July 30.
And for those curious about the lawsuit filed against this film for copyright infringement which alleges that Franco and company copied another film/script after passing on it in August 2020, writer/director Michael Shanks posted a statement a few weeks ago refuting these claims. Notably, he points out that he “completed the first draft in 2019 and registered it to the Writer’s Guild of America that same year. In October 2020, I received development funding from Screen Australia to further the project. In 2022, my agent at WME introduced me to Dave Franco.”
There’s been no word from the plaintiffs since and barring a settlement, the suit will probably go on for another year or more. Said their lawyer, Daniel Miller, back in June, “While defendants continue to claim innocence, they have refused to produce any documents that would support their position. We specifically asked them in writing to provide information substantiating their claims. Their unwillingness to back up their public statements with proof speaks for itself.”
