Jacob Tierney is sharing new details about Heated Rivalry season 2!
The 47-year-old creator, writer, and director is taking a quick break from filming the upcoming second season of the hit queer hockey drama to promote his new book I’ll Believe in Anything, a collection of annotated scripts from season one of Heated Rivalry.
On Tuesday (October 13), Jacob appeared on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live where he chatted with host Andy Cohen about filming season two of the Crave series.
During their conversation, Jacob confirmed that just like season one, season two will feature six episodes and shared that production will be finished by the end of the year.
He also explained that while he can make creative changes to the series, he has “loyalty” to the Game Changers book series written by Rachel Reid.
“My loyalty is still to these books and to this show that we started,” Jacob explained. “So, like, I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel here, you know? Their second book, The Long Game, is a great book and it’s a great source to begin with.
Jacob confirmed that while they’ve added several other Game Changers characters into season two, the main focus of the series is the relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rosanov (played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, respectively).
“And, you know, we’re bringing in some of the other books and some other characters, stuff that again intersects with Shane and Ilya’s story,” Jacob explained. “They are the North Star of the show. That relationship is what we’re going to continue to explore and to watch develop and all that stuff.”
“And, you know, as I’ve said from the beginning, I remain a fan of these books,” he reiterated. “I’m not looking to shake them up or fix them or anything like that. But it’s basically what’s in the books.”
In another new interview, Jacob revealed if Rihanna‘s song “Diamonds” will be featured in season 2, since it plays a big part in The Long Game book.
