Eminem and Kid Rock are teaming up again and their latest collaboration is drawing a lot of attention for a surprising reason.
The two Michigan musicians have reunited for a new song called “7 Sins,” which will appear on Kid Rock‘s upcoming faith-focused album Halfway 2 Jesus.
Kid Rock revealed the album’s track list this week, and some fans initially questioned whether Eminem‘s name on the project was legitimate. However, a representative for the “Lose Yourself” rapper confirmed to Complex that the rapper really does appear on the song.
What is Eminem and Kid Rock’s new song about?
While the full song has not been released yet, Kid Rock offered some insight into why he wanted his longtime friend on the project.
In an excerpt from the album’s foreword obtained by Complex, Kid Rock explained that he and Eminem have remained close even though they don’t always agree politically.
“I’m proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem,” he wrote. “His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all.”
The “All Summer Long” singer continued, “We hope that sets an example for people who’ve lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently.”
The two stars have publicly taken opposing political positions over the years. Kid Rock has been a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, while Eminem appeared at a Detroit campaign rally for Kamala Harris in October 2024 and publicly encouraged voters to support her.
This also isn’t their first time working together, as Eminem previously appeared on Kid Rock‘s 1998 “F*** Off,” from the album Devil Without a Cause. Kid Rock also made a cameo in Eminem‘s music video for “Berzerk” in 2013.
Halfway 2 Jesus is expected out on October 17. Apart from Eminem, the album includes appearances from Rascal Flatts singer Gary LeVox and Jimmie Allen, who join him on the title track, per Billboard.
