The woman that accused Jay-Z of sexual assault is recanting her allegations.
Back in December 2024, the 56-year-old “Empire State of Mind” rapper was accused of sexually assaulting a minor alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000. The lawsuit was dismissed in February in 2025.
In a declaration filed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday (September 24), the plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, wrote that Jay-Z never raped her and that they have never met.
“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter,” the plaintiff wrote, per Rolling Stone. “Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever.”
She continued, “There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter. I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering and damage that can never be fully undone.”
The woman’s new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr. then told TMZ, “Our client maintains that she was a victim of sexual assault, but she was entirely mistaken in her allegations identifying Mr. Carter, and those allegations were false.”
The attorney added, “Mr. Carter did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him. She sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to Mr. Carter and his family.”
The woman says she “voluntarily” decided to recant her claims, and has “received no monetary consideration, payment or financial compensation of any kind from Mr. Carter, or anyone acting on his behalf.”
Jay-Z vehemently denied the allegations as soon as the lawsuit was as it was filed, calling this a blackmail attempt and calling the woman’s original lawyer, Tony Buzbee, a fraud.
The Grammy-winning rapper previously revealed how much money he lost as a result of the lawsuit.
