Florence Pugh is starring in Netflix’s upcoming limited series adaptation of the classic novel East of Eden and the full length trailer is finally here.
Here’s the official logline: This modern interpretation of Steinbeck’s masterpiece will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames.

The series also stars Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist, as well as Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Ciarán Hinds, Martha Plimpton, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders.
Zoe Kazan, an actress known for her work in movies like The Big Sick and She Said, serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the new project.
“I didn’t have another person that I thought would be just as good. She [Florence Pugh] is the exact right person to play Cathy,” co-showrunner and writer Zoe Kazan said in a statement to Tudum.
“I don’t use this word lightly: I think she’s a genius. I watched her on set for five months. I have no more insight now as to how she works than I did before. I can see how hard she works, and I can see how much it means to her, but there’s no obvious preparation or process that is visible to me at least.”
“I wanted to make sure that she was also a person and not just an archetype,” she added of the character.
“I think that really required me to do some unfolding rather than inventing. Basically, everything that’s in the series has at least a root in the book.”
