Netlfix has released the first look photos of the upcoming new movie The Mosquito Bowl!
The forthcoming war pic hails from Peter Berg, who co-wrote the script with Mark L Smith, based on the book “The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II” by Buzz Bissinger.
What is The Mosquito Bowl about?
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, four of America’s top College Football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they’ll play in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history – a game that, for many, will be the last they ever play.
“This is very much a reality-based film,” Peter shared with Tudum. “We are representing forces larger than ourselves — honoring the men of the Marine Corps who sacrificed their lives in 1944 and 1945.”
Who stars in The Mosquito Bowl?
Nicholas Galitzine stars as John McLaughry, “a natural leader both on the field and in life. He played quarterback for Brown University, coached by his own father, before bringing that same determination to the battlefields of the Pacific.”
Bill Skarsgård plays Bob Baumann, “a force of nature — a man who charges headfirst into any fight with the same enthusiasm he brings to a room full of friends. Larger than life in every sense, he played for the University of Wisconsin.”
Ray Nicholson stars as Purdue star Tony Butkovich, who is “an unparalleled athlete and the best offensive player of his era, a man who seemed built for greatness from the moment he stepped onto a field, where he set records for Purdue.”
Tom Francis plays David Schreiner, “who played for the University of Wisconsin alongside Baumann, bringing a measured, strategic mind to the field.”
Brent Comer and Dominic Bogart are also among the cast.
When does The Mosquito Bowl come out?
The upcoming Peter Berg-directed film will debut in theaters on October 30th, and arrives on Netflix on November 25th.
