Princess Eugenie has welcomed her third child. The baby girl—whose name has not yet been revealed—joins brothers August Philip Hawke and Ernest George Ronnie (ages 5 and 3, respectively). While her older brothers were born at Portland Hospital in London, the newest addition to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s family was born on August 3 at a hospital in Lisbon. The reason? The couple splits their time between Portugal and the United Kingdom due to Brooksbank’s work; he was previously a brand ambassador for George Clooney’s tequila company, Casamigos, and now works for tycoon Mike Meldman (another business partner of the Ocean’s Eleven star).
Princess Eugenie is the director of art gallery Hauser & Wirth, but she follows her husband on his travels. Family life in Lisbon is much more manageable, allowing them to lead a relatively ordinary life—or at least one far from the spotlight. She once said on the Table Manners podcast: “This is why Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares.”
It’s no surprise that her favorite cousin, Prince Harry, loves this European destination just as much as she does—so much so that he recently spent time there on vacation with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet (ages 7 and 5). A source told People magazine that in Portugal, the little ones “can simply be kids. It’s always very low-key with beach days, playing and spending time together as a family.”
Even though Eugenie’s daughter was born outside the United Kingdom, she maintains her place in the line of succession to the throne (she is currently fifteenth in line, after her mother and two brothers). The same goes for Lilibet, who was born in California after her parents stepped away from their senior royal duties and moved across the ocean. Prince Harry’s second child is seventh in line to the throne, after her father and older brother.
While everyone waits to find out the name of the royal baby, King Charles shared his official congratulations via a social media post on August 4. Eugenie reposted it on her Instagram account with the caption: “We are beyond in love with our girlie.”
