Lets start by throwing back to 2024, Tim Allen had been going around pitching a Home Improvement reunion. According to deadline Patricia was asked about this on the Back to the Best podcast and she said Tim never asked her or JTT.
“I called Jonathan one day and said, ‘Has he asked you about this? He went, ‘No.’ So why is he saying everyone is on board when he hasn’t talked to you or me?” Richardson said. Richardson said the legal issues of onscreen son Zachery Ty Bryan and the death of Earl Hindman, aka neighbor Wilson, leaves her without a desire to return. “I mean, Zach is now a felon,” she said. “Taran [Noah Smith] hasn’t acted since he left the show; he’s not an actor anymore. And Jonathan’s not really interested in acting. He wants to direct and write. And we don’t have Wilson.”
Fast forward to 2026,on the promo trail for Toy Story, Tim was asked about the status of the home improvement reboot, and he describes get actors who played his sons as having “personality problems” – it is not clear if he considers JTT not wanting to act one of such problems. Something tells me he still hasn’t called them kids. He said: “They keep talking about how it could move forward, but they get stuck [because] there are some personality problems right now with the boys. They’ve got their own issues. I always thought it would be cool if it was a story about them. That’s a little challenging right now, to put it mildly.”
