The screen star committed suicide on July 10, with the news of his passing revealed by actor Rob McClure on Instagram.
Josh Grisetti’s family set up fundraising camoaign
Cause of death has been confirmed as a gunshot wound, and his family are now hoping they can raise some capital to help make life a little easier for his wife Mackenzie and her family.
On the GoFundMe page, his family wrote: “Our hearts are profoundly broken by the sudden passing of Josh Grisetti. Josh was a luminous force across Broadway, television, film, and academia, leaving an indelible imprint on the global creative community.
“The extraordinary outpouring of love from Los Angeles, New York, Virginia, and beyond stands as a moving testament to the depth of his impact.”
The family’s message noted that the fundraiser stems from the fact that so many had “generously” asked how they could provide assistance.
“Born from so many requests, this fund offers a practical way to express your love to Josh’s next of kin,” .
Any financial contribution will go to cover “Josh’s final arrangements”, as well as proving “essential support” for his family shared.
They added: “Your generosity allows us to focus entirely on grieving and supporting one another rather than navigating administrative strain.”
The message also said that “any funds raised that are not used for the express purpose of bringing closure and managing immediate end-of-life logistics will be donated directly to the Entertainment Community Fund in Grisetti’s memory. As of this writing, the campaign has raised just over $35,000.
Josh was most well known among TV fans for playing Ralph Emerson in the fifth, final, season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He was also an established theatre star, appearing on Broadway in shows including Something Rotten! and It Shoulda Been You.
As well as his acting career, Josh served as head of the Musical Theatre program at California State University. The comments section of Rob’s post was quickly flooded with tributes to Josh, with many of them coming from Broadway stars. While Rachel Zegler kept it simple with a red love heart emoji, Tony-winning actor Donna Murphy wrote: “Oh my God Rob. Such truly devastating heartbreaking news. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful, gifted human artist. You your family Josh’s family dearest ones are in my heart highest thoughts prayers.”
As Stephanie J Block-Arcelus added: “What a kind and beautiful soul. I am so so sorry for this great loss. Sending you and all those who loved him comfort and strength.”
